How to choose the material of baler’s feeding box

The feeding box and high pressure chamber of the baler are made of wear-resistant steel plates. According to different requirements, NM400, NM450, NM500, NM550 can be selected (similar to HARDOX 400, 450, 500, 550)

The chemical composition and mechanical performance requirements of NM400 are as follows:

Carbon (C): 0.14%

Silicon (Si): 0.35%

Manganese (Mn): 1.24%

Phosphorus (P): 0.011%

Sulfur (S): 0.008%

Chromium (Cr): 0.39%

Molybdenum (Mo): 0.205%

Nickel (Ni): 0.02%

Boron (B): 0.0018%

Niobium (Nb): 0.012%

Tensile strength σb(MPa): 1250

Yield strength σb(MPa): 1081

Hardness: HB409

The chemical composition and mechanical performance requirements of NM500 are as follows:

Carbon (C): 0.27%

Silicon (Si): 0.34%

Manganese (Mn): 0.69%

Phosphorus (P): 0.007%

Sulfur (S): 0.0007%

Chromium (Cr): 0.50%

Molybdenum (Mo): 0.011%

Nickel (Ni): 0.02%

Boron (B): 0.0019%

Niobium (Nb): 0.019%

Hardness: HB488
